Emily is passionate about sharing her love of mathematics with all learners and has been a private math tutor for the past 10 years. She graduated from The College of New Jersey with a math minor and then went on to get her Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University with a specialization in mathematics education. She taught 8th grade math in title schools for 7 years and then became a full-time private math tutor specializing in standardized test prep. SAT math is her favorite subject, but she also loves helping students with 5-12th grade mathematics and ACT math and science prep.
Emily particularly enjoys working with students who feel they are not naturally “good at math,” have difficulties understanding it, or who have had poor teachers that caused gaps in their mathematical education. She connects with her students and incorporates their interests and learning styles into her tutoring sessions to increase retention. She makes learning fun and celebrates student success. Communication with families is important to her, and she provides regular updates via text and email. Emily has worked with hundreds of students, ages 6-50, and believes she can make math accessible and fun for everyone with the right tools and strategies.
